Description

In this third installment of the popular Delightful Grace series, prize-winning Orthodox children’s author Anna Iakovou presents five new stories on the subject of the holy fool! Leading a humble, ascetic life, the holy fool appears “crazy” to some, but is in fact “mad” with great love for Christ. Included in the book is the story of Saint Symeon, who creates a commotion wherever he goes, sometimes upsetting people, sometimes amusing them, and sometimes saving their lives! There is Blessed Xenia, the beloved Russian saint, who consoles a desperate mother with a sick child and just possibly performs a great miracle . . . There is the story of Saint Paraskeva, a popular nun who, with God’s grace, can see the future of the people who come to visit her and . . . share a cup of tea! Both entertaining and instructive, and packed with charming illustrations, Delightful Grace 3 will introduce young readers to the uniquely Orthodox figure of the “Fool for Christ.”

Delightful Grace 3: Fools for Christ's Sake

Published by Christina Taylor / Orthodox Family Life on Dec 19th 2024

Delightful Grace 3: Fools for Christ's Sake is a delightful children's book every Orthodox family should have. This book tells short stories from the life of five different Fools for Christ, gently introducing us to these wondrous saints. It will leaving you and your children wanting to know more about each saint! Fools for Christ can be difficult saints to explain to children, but this book does a beautiful job showing how people who seem foolish in the eyes of the world are actually them most sane people among us. I also love that they have chosen several saints from different ages and places, so that the children can see the Holy Fools in a variety of settings. As a mother of four grown children, I highly recommend this book.
