Orthodox Christian Prayer Book, Trim size 4x6, 230pp.

This 4inx6in 230pp edition is a round-back hardcover bound in blue cloth with gold-stamping. It has been beautifully printed in full-color, with many icons, gilded edges and two page-marker ribbons.

This English language text includes Morning Prayers, the Service of Vespers, Small Compline, the Salutations to the Theotokos, Small Paraklesis, Prayers Before Meals, the Paschal Hours, the Lesser Hours, the Service of Preparation for Holy Communion, the Prayers of Thanksgiving After Holy Communion, the Prayer of the Heart, Occasional Prayers, the Fasting Periods of the Church and a Paschalion through 2029.

It also includes two sections by St. Nikodemos of the Holy Mountain (translated by Rev. Fr. George Dokos): Prayers to our Lord Jesus Christ (written in the style of an Akathist) and Safeguard for the Soul (a thirty-day on spiritual watchfulness).

    Perfectly balanced and simply stunning

    This prayer book fills a unique niche that, until quite recently, has been empty for English prayer books. Within, one can keep the 7 canonical hours from Vespers through to the 9th hour. The book does not have the "propers" for each day, but this makes for an appropriately abridged version of the prayers of the Church, in particular with regards to Matins/the Midnight office, and Vespers. There is also a special quality in the book knowing that the monastics of Nea Moni on the Holy Mountain also are using a prayer book that is very similar to this one. It creates a spiritual link for us using this book with the Holy Mountain.

    Without a doubt, this is the most beautiful and well-appointed prayer book in the English language. The paper is sturdy, of a beautiful cream color, and the gilding is first-rate. The small details are where things really shine. Everything is thoughtfully placed, and I commend the design team for their deliberate and exquisite choices, in particular with regards to the icons. The translation is also excellent. Although I prefer the more Victorian/Elizabethan Thee/Thou, this is possibly the finest translation into modern English of You/Your without ever falling into the trap of over-familiarity or colloquialisms. There was thankfully an ear for the poetic cadence of the prayers when making the translation such that it reads easily and without too much stumbling. In particular, the morning prayers are quite similar to the St. Tikhon Prayer book (which in my estimation is the finest translation in English that we have, and which this book has replaced). Many thanks to Fr. Michael and the entire Newrome Press team. This is an heirloom product to be cherished for decades of daily use.

    Quality Orthodox book

    This prayer book is beautifully laid out on fine paper and the translation is excellent. It was first recommended to me at St. John Chrysostom Monastery in Wisconsin. Since then, we have offered it in our Church bookstore.

    Best Prayer Book I’ve got

    I absolutely love this prayer book and it’s the only one I’ll use now. Has beautiful icons printed in it, has the Safeguard for the Soul which is just brilliant and has many occasional prayers. Also has the three book mark ribbons which is also a nice touch. Prayer books without ribbons just don’t make sense to me now. Good job and I’ll be buying more books soon!     Truly a fantastic artwork

    The prayer book is a piece of art. Meticulously made in all details and very beautiful. It's a great prayer book for oneself, and it can make for a wonderful and unique gift!

    Superb Quality and excellent customer service

    Gorgeous little prayer book

    What a gorgeous prayer book. This prayer book is small enough to take with you to Divine Liturgy, and large enough to be your use daily at your home. It comes in a durable hard cloth type cover, with beautiful gold stamping, gilded edges, and colorful icons throughout. The paper is much thicker and of higher quality than normal paper, and should last much longer than a standard cheapie book you would buy from Amazon. Also on a smaller note, this book just feels good in your hands. The weight, the feel, and the quality are all apparent when holding it. Shipping was normal speed. It took about two business day to ship, and then another 4-5 business days to arrive (yes, it’s worth the wait). Mine arrived two days earlier than expected, so that was nice. I will finally say the description on the webpage is not correct, as it states this book only comes with two page markers, when in reality it comes with three. Blue, red, and yellow. I will be recommending and ordering from New Rome Press to friends and family going forward, as I am very pleased with my purchase. Highly recommended!

    Orthodox Christian Prayer Book

    What an absolutely wonderful prayer book! From the cloth cover to the gold edges, this prayer book is beautiful and it’s full of great prayers of the Church.

    Orthodox Prayer Book

    I really like it. Coming from a Protestant background, learning more about the Orthodox faith has in a way increased my own faith. I feel like I am being guided by the Holy Spirit, although a sinner like me cannot say something like that lightly. I make sure to read at least one thing from this book daily, and right now I am going through the Safeguard of the Soul section. Giving it 4 stars because I wish this same book came in a larger size . . .

    Fantastic Quality and Enriching Prayer Life

    I wanted to grow in Orthodox prayers. This book does that and more. It is small enough to carry around and designed beautifully. The quality of the publisher consistently amazes me. The layout is pleasing to the eye. The binding is very nice and built to be used consistently. They include helpful resources on prayer and give a fasting schedule. This prayer book is helping me grow in the way of Christ. I am grateful to join the faithful in prayer.

    Orthodox Prayer Book

    I’m a Protestant thinking about converting, so I may not be the best opinion on prayer books, but this one comes highly recommended from other Orthodox people I trust. The quality is great, easy to read and to find what you need and aesthetically pleasing. Quality pages and icons, and the shipping was super fast. They shipped it less than 2 hours after I ordered. Awesome!
