Description

Whoosh! A Journey from Pride to Humility is a modern-day fairy tale that will entertain and delight young boys and girls while also teaching them some very important life lessons. In the story, a little boy is repeatedly complimented on his “large, strikingly beautiful eyes” and eventually the praise goes to his head. Yet as the boy’s pride grows, so too does his body—and soon he is as tall as the clouds! But being this “special” causes problems, and the boy becomes alone and sad. Who can help him? Where can he turn? Fortunately, the boy meets a wise Elder who shares with him some basic spiritual truths . . . Filled with charming illustrations, the book also contains an activity section that includes coloring pages and instructions to make finger puppets, all based on characters in the story. In our days of rampant pride, when self-love is even encouraged, Whoosh! A Journey from Pride to Humility teaches children the importance of humility and of focusing one’s life on God.

Whoosh! A Journey From Pride to Humility

Published by Christina Taylor / Orthodox Family Life on Dec 19th 2024

This book was excellent! Whoosh!: A Journey from Pride to Humility tells the story of a young boy who is overcome with prideful thoughts due to the praise of others. He learns that humble thoughts bring more peace that prideful ones. He also learns that everyone has unique gifts from God and that we should humbly thank God for what He has given us and not to let our God given talents make us prideful. The story does a fantastic job explaining both pride and humility to children. This would be an excellent read during Great Lent!
